Nice old French violin labelled CH JB. Collin-Mezin. This is a rare Maggini model which has double purfling highlights. Good condition, no cracks, no repair done. Body length 358mm. Set up with Pernumbuco tuning pegs, tail piece and chinrest.
Originally from Mirecourt, Charles J.B. Collin dit Mezin established himself in Paris and became one of the leading French makers of the 19th century. Among the many players who played his instruments was Joseph Joachim. He won medals at three Paris exhibitions and generally used Amati, Guarneri or Stradivari models.
