Our violin lessons and viola lessons are customized to the needs of each student. Whether you are interested in learning the violin for leisure, or prefer to track your progress via the ABRSM (Associated Board Of Royal School of Music)/ or Trinity examination program, we can structure your private violin lesson plan accordingly. We offer violin classes for beginners as well as master violin lessons in Singapore. Private violin lessons can also be arranged.

Violin Masterclasses, Viola Masterclasses

We conduct violin and viola masterclasses for students of all levels. These masterclasses are very effective in correcting any existing technique issues. Once this is done, we move the student forward in terms of more advanced level techniques. Our masterclasses are conducted by seasoned professional level maestro based with Singapore Symphony Orchestra. As world class musicians, these teachers have honed their performance techniques perfectly and can pass their superb skills to students. Violin Private Lessons

Our private violin lessons are mainly one to one coaching, so the violin teacher can give 100% undivided attention during your violin lessons. As opposed to group violin lessons in Singapore, private violin lessons allow the violin teacher to correct any technique and bow handling issues you have throughout the duration of the violin lessons. The best teacher to student ratio is one to one for private violin lessons. Two student to one teacher ratio for violin lessons in Singapore is still fine. For effective violin lessons, both student must have similar music background and ability, to reap the most from beginner violin lessons. Private violin lessons can be planned at your home, our music centre at Sultan Plaza, or at teacher’s location.

Violin Lessons For Beginners

For students starting out, it is prudent to engage a qualified violin teacher for beginner violin lessons, to build solid foundation in techniques during violin classes for beginners. During violin classes for beginners, our violin teachers focus on technique, sound, and understanding emotions when playing the violin Do not under estimate the importance of violin classes for beginners. Some students want to rush through this and skip beginner violin lessons. What is covered during violin lessons for beginners? Basics such as proper posture, bow hold, basic bow handling are not mastered and these students typically don’t do well and need to retake violin classes for beginners. Once solid foundation is built, your progress to intermediate and advanced level playing will be smooth in future private violin lessons. Lim Chun was principal violist for both the Singapore Youth Orchestra and the Asian Youth Orchestra before he began his studies at the Peabody Institute of Music at the age of 17, where on a full scholarship, he received his Bahelor and Master Degrees. His teacher was Joseph De Pasquale and he had also participated in the masterclasses of Emanuel Vardi, Roberto Diaz and Heidi Castleman. During his second year at Peabody, he was given an award for his outstanding achievements as a violist. That same year, he began to freelance in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, playing under the batons of David Zinman, James Depreist and Yuri Temirkanov.

Yeo Teow Meng

Violinist, Singapore Symphony Orchestra

Born in Singapore, Yeo Teow Meng commenced studies on the violin at the age of eight. Awarded a scholarship by the Public Service Commission (Singapore) in 1982, he furthered his studies with Lyndall Hendrickson and Gunnar Crantz in Adelaide at the South Australian College of Advanced Education. Upon graduation he worked with the State Opera of South Australia as well as various chambers groups and has been with the SSO since 1986.

Jameson is a passionate Violin Teacher and Viola Performer with more than a decade of teaching and orchestral experience. He is committed to nurturing young musicians, helping students build a strong musical foundation while enjoying the learning process.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Viola Performance from the National Taiwan University of Arts, and also trained at the University of Central Arkansas. His diverse international musical background allows him to bring unique insights and inspiration to every lesson.

Teaching Philosophy
Jameson specializes in beginner violin and viola students, using fun, creative, and structured lesson methods to spark interest and confidence. His warm personality and clear communication help students feel supported while developing proper technique, rhythm, and musical expression.

Currently based in Singapore, he teaches full-time in preschools and private lessons islandwide, guiding students of various ages and abilities in their musical journey.

Sarah Ng

Sarah achieved Masters in Music degree in violin performance from Schulich School of Music (Montreal, Canada) in 2018. Prior to that, she achieved Bachelor’s in Music in violin performance from Eastman School of Music (New York, USA) in 2016.

She has been teaching since 2010 in Singapore and Montreal, and has been full time violin coach since 2020. Sarah has experience coaching students from age 4 to adults.

Sarah also has vast performance experience in Chamber and Orchestra. Siak Lee is a qualified music teacher with excellent subject knowledge, humour and a passion for student development. She achieved Bachelors of Education (Honours) in instrumental and vocal teaching in 2024, from Royal College of London. Prior to that, she graduated with diploma in teaching from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2022.

Joanne Zhang

A professional level violin teacher, Joanne graduated from Northeast Nornal University (Chang Chun of China) in 2001, attaining Bachelors degree in music teaching. She is also familiar with the ABRSM (Associated Board of Royal School of Music) and Trinity exam board grading system, having attained ABRSM.grade 8 (Distinction) in 2006, In 2020, she graduated from NAFA (Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts) obtaining music diploma in teaching.

Violinist

Kevin began to learn violin at the age of 9 and started off as a CCA under Michael Tong. He has also went through the tutelage of renowned SSO members Wu Man Yun, Foo Say Ming and Nikolai Koval.

He has achieved a Distinction in Grade 8 ABRSM exam and went on to participate in numerous competitions where the most notable one is achieving Gold standard in the Singapore Performers Festival.

After serving his National Service, Kevin attended the Diploma and Degree from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) where the Degree programme was in collaboration with RCM (Royal College of Music) and was under the tutelage of Professor Michal Cwizewicz.

To further hone his techniques and interpretations, he attended masterclasses held by Chua Lik Wuk, Lynette Lim and Zhao Tian.

Kevin currently holds the Bachelor of Music (Hons) and even took the DipABRSM exam. He is able to teach repertoires to any level and explores not just classical music, but jazz repertoires as well. He also holds a Grade 8 certification in Music Theory where most of his students achieved Distinction in their Grade 5 exam.

Clement Lim

Local violinist, Clement Lim has been teaching in Singapore as a full time violin instructor since 1995.

Born in 1972, Mr. Lim started his journey in practical violin at the age of 8. He had received his violin training with several renowned violinists. Among were Pavel Prantl (first SSO concertmaster); Chua Lik Wuk; Kong Zhao Hui – members of SSO. Lynette Lim.

Tevy graduated from La Salle Singapore & Kingston University (DIP. BA in violin music performance, Hons upper 2nd Division) in 1998. He also has piano as minor study for his Dip. BA. He has 9 years of solid coaching experience with private students as well as in music schools.

Tevy’s appreciation of western classical music originated from his coaches from Singapore and UK. Notably, he took master classes from Mr Jonathan Rees (a recipient of the BBC Award violinist in 1978).

I’ve been playing the viola for about 5 years having learnt the violin prior to switching instruments. I haven’t had any formal viola lessons before this year, and as the viola is not as popular an instrument as the violin or cello, finding...  a viola teacher proved difficult, and finding a GOOD viola teacher was almost impossible. We located our violin coach from Stradivari Strings. My girls (10 & 4 years old) have been learning violin and piano with Yi Jia since February 2019. I’ve been impressed with Yi Jia in many ways. He’s professional and dependable. He’s a... lways on time and never misses a lesson. He also manages to do his best to accommodate our schedule if change is required. He comes prepared with specific lesson goals and is committed to the girls’ progress. He’s especially patient with my 4 year old who can be easily distracted during an hour lesson. Yi Jia never loses his cool, and does his best to get her engaged & learning. My 10 year old says she likes Yi Jia because when she has a question or struggles with a part of music, he always stops to explain and re-teach until she gets it. He doesn’t dismiss her questions or let her skip difficult parts of music. She also likes that he challenges her to play more difficult music and patiently teaches and encourages her until she gets it. My 4 year old says she likes Yi Jia because he teaches about notes and tells her where they are on the piano and strings. She also says Yi Jia is very nice. Yijia is one of those teachers who has deep love for what they are teaching and deeply committed to student progress.

I have been learning violin for over 5 years. While visiting Singapore, I went to all the violin shops in town. I found my dream violin at Stradivari strings. The owner, Rita, helped me to select violin. She is so knowledgeable in this fiel... d! Each violin has its own character and tone quality. While selecting my violin, I also had detailed coaching from Mr Yeo, a very experienced violin coach. He pointed out my bow hold issues and gave me pointers on shifting and executing vibrato. My tone and intonation improved a lot after I learnt these important tips from Mr Yeo. He is an inspiring teacher. Just one class from him improved my playing. With that, I was able to attain distinction in ABRSM Violin grade 5. When I return to Singapore this year, I will take more masterclasses with Mr Yeo. Thank you Stradivari Strings! You are wonderful.
