The cello's mellow and soulful sound has inspired many to lean to play the instrument. Our cello teachers have experience coaching cello to students aged 5 to adults, inspiring students from all walks of life to appreciate music.
Looking for a cello teacher to coach your child for DSA (Direst School Admission) program or progress via the ABRSM (Associated Board of Royal School of Music) examination program? Or hoping to learn the cello as a leisure player? We are able to customise cello lessons to the individual requirements of each student. Cello lessons are targeted at developing good technique and sound, as well as understanding the emotional language of cello music.
Cello lessons can be conducted at our school (located at Sultan Plaza) or at your home.
Cello Teachers Bryan Wu (Cello, theory)
Bryan graduated from Yong Siew Toh conservatory in 2017 with Bachelor of music (honours) in cello. He started studying the cello from age 9. He spent 7 years at Xi’ an Conservatory of music and graduated with a diploma qualification majoring in cello. He held a solo recital at age 17 in China, and studied with numerous cello experts around the world.
In 2010, Bryan played in the Gisborne International Music Competition. He also played in New York Forte International Music Competition and was awarded gold medal and an opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Bryan’s teaching experience started in 2011, coaching young children to adults.
Mr Sim (Cello, Theory)
Mr Sim has master of music (MMus) from Robert Schuman Hochschule, Dusseldorf, Germany. In 2013 he graduated from Yong Siew Toh conservatory with Bachelor of music (honours) in cello.
Teaching experience range from cello instructor for Singapore National Youth Orchestra, National Junior College, as well as individual coaching across all levels and age group.
He was awarded multiple scholarships (National Arts Council scholarship 2011, YST full scholarship). Has also garnered multiple awards including 1st prize ensemble category, national Chinese music competition 2008
Li Jing Li (Cello, Theory)
Jing Li graduated from Royal College of Music, London with Bachelor of Music (Honours) in 2017. Prior to that, she achieved distinction in Diploma of Music (Cello) with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2015.
She started teaching in 2012 as a private cello coach. Age group of her students range from 5 to 60. Aside from developing interest in music in her students, she also prepares students to take the ABRSM (Associated Royal School of Music) examinations.
Her performance experience include solo performances in various venues including the Victoria Concert Hall (Singapore), NAFA (Singapore), Shandong University of Arts (China), Shang Yin Music School (China). She also performs with the Philharmonic Orchestra Singapore, Singapore Lyric Opera, among others.
Ophelia (Cello, Theory)
Ophelia graduated with a diploma in cello performance from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 2015. Currently, she is pursuing her Bachelor of Music with Honours with NAFA in collaboration with the Royal College of Music, London.
She started learning the cello at the age of 13 and has been taught under Mr Kenneth Lee Hou Koon, Mr Lin Juan and is now under the tutelage of Ms Zhao Yu Er (Singapore Symphony Orchestra Cellist). During her international placement at the Royal College of Music in London, Ophelia also studied under Professor Amanda Truelove.
Ophelia is also active in the music scene. Orchestra and ensemble groups she performs with include: NAFA Orchestra, NAFA Project Strings, Singapore Pocket Opera Theatre (SPOT), Orchestra of Music Makers (OMM), The Young Musician Foundation Orchestra (Singapore) and Marsiling Chinese Orchestra.
Hai Yang (Cello, Theory)
Hai Yang graduated from NAFA (Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts) in 2016 with Diploma in Music, Cello major. She has 3 years of coaching experience, her students age range from 5 year old to adults.
Her performance experience include solo performances in NAFA (2015), and in Shenyang Conservatory of music (2011-2013). Currently she performs with the Philharmonic Orchestra Singapore and NAFA Project Strings.
Jun Sian (Cello/ Theory)
Jun Sian achieved Distinction in Cello ABRSM Grade 8 in 2012 He holds the following positions with the following orchestras: principal cellist with the Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra, principal cellist and section leader with the Singapore Polytechnic Chinese Orchestra, as well as plays in the Philharmonic Orchestra.
Between 2007-2009, Jun Sian achieved the Gold and Gold with Honours Awards in Singapore Youth Festival competition.
